Tim Phillips, managing director. Tim is a founder and managing director of ECigIntelligence. He is a UK-qualified attorney, having worked at the European Commission, BSkyB and Herbert Smith (an international law firm), AOL Europe, as director of public affairs at Betfair (IPO in 2010 valued at £1.5bn), and as a partner in a New York VC-funded startup in the diamond sector. Tim holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practise from the University of Law, London and a Masters in Geology from Oxford University. Barnaby Page, editorial director. Barnaby is a journalist with 30 years’ experience including roles at Media Week, aka.tv, TechWeb.com, and Casino International; he has been a reporter and editor on numerous magazines and broadsheet newspapers in Britain, Canada and the Middle East, specialising in business, technology/innovation, marketing and regulation. As well as editing ECigIntelligence.com, Barnaby has specific responsibility for covering topics including advertising, the retail channel, technology, and the tobacco industry’s role in the e-cig market.
David Attwood, business analysis director. David is an experienced consultant and financial analyst, who most recently developed a renewable energy project in South Africa. Previously he was a market analyst and consultant at Emerging Energy Research (clean energy consultancy), and a manager at PwC (tax). David holds an MBA from IESE in Barcelona and an undergraduate degree in law from Nottingham University, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). David runs our market data tracking services and also leads our customised research and consultancy offerings.

Daniel Irwin-Brown, EU/International market analyst. Daniel has a BA in politics and economics from Newcastle University and an MA in European integration from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain. He has worked in consumer research for FreshMinds, London and for Future Foundation, Madrid, Spain, and is based in our Barcelona office. Daniel runs our global market tracking databases, and is responsible for all EU and International market analysis.
Nikita Dzhain, market analyst. Nikita holds a Master of Business Administration and Economics (with a specialisation in big data and information systems) from Aalto University in Finland and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Nikita brings deep expertise in data analysis as well as an international perspective having worked and studied in Finland, Russia, Netherlands and Spain. Nikita provides detailed analytical capability for data-heavy projects, in addition to supporting our market research and analysis on EU and International regions.
Stavroula Anastasopoulou, market analyst. Stavroula graduated from the Athens University of Economics and Business, with a BA in Management Science and Technology (majoring in Quantitative Methods and Operational Research). She has worked in Logistics at Colgate-Palmolive and interned at the International Office of the University of Catalunya, Barcelona. Stavroula is part of our market research and analysis team, in particular providing quantative analysis and insight into supply chains.

Pablo Cano Trilla, EU/international legal analyst. Pablo holds an LLM from the University of Aberdeen, an LLB in law from the Autónoma de Madrid University and a BA in political science from the Pompeu Fabra University. Following his internship at the European Parliament, Pablo has practised in several different fields of law. Pablo runs our EU and International legal analysis, including leading our monthly regulatory mapping dashboard services.
Carly Souther, U.S. legal analyst. Carly is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Law and also has a BA in political science from Mercer University. Admitted to the Florida Bar in 2013, she was assistant general counsel at Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration. She is currently studying for a postgraduate master of laws (LLM). Carly leads our U.S. legal analysis, including tracking all federal and US state and local regulation. She runs our US interactive regulatory tracker product, following changing regulation on e-cigarettes in all 50 states.
Elba Manzanilla Zapata, legal analyst. Elba has a Law Degree from the Catholic University Andrés Bello, Caracas, Venezuela, and is currently finishing a Master’s Degree in Law at Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona. Elba supports our EU/International legal analysis, and provides resource to enable publishing of our monthly regulatory tracking dashboards.
Freddie Dawson, UK reporter/researcher. Freddie studied at King’s College, London and City University and worked for publications including The Times, The Malay Mail, PathfinderBuzz and Solar Summary before joining the ECigIntelligence team. He has extensive experience in covering FMCG, manufacturing and technology innovation. Freddie’s topics include European and world regulation, world news, and specialist e-cig manufacturers.
Marc Beishon, health correspondent. Marc has held positions including managing editor of New Scientist magazine, launch editor of National Pharmacy Association’s InPharmacy magazine, reporter for National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), and journalist for the European School of Oncology (Cancer World magazine).
