LEGAL ANALYST – FULL-TIME – BASED BARCELONA OFFICE (posted 24th November 2016)

Job description

ECigIntelligence is seeking a US legal analyst to join our team of around 25 analysts, lawyers and journalists based in the United Kingdom, Spain and the United States.

We are an online, subscription-based professional data and analysis provider covering e-cigarettes and related sectors, serving a global readership including senior executives, regulators, and public health professionals. (Please note that we are an independent professional data provider, and not a vaping advocacy organisation or a product review site.)

The e-cigarette sector is one of the most controversial and stimulating niche markets to be covering as a legal analyst today. This disruptive sector is growing fast, but policy and regulation across the world is fragmented and changing rapidly, with important knock-on effects for development of the category globally.

As a legal analyst working in our central Barcelona office, you will be responsible for performing research and analysis of the legal framework applicable to the tobacco-alternatives sector particularly regarding e-cigarettes in the United States, and publishing analysis and research on a regular basis to update our clients on the changing legal landscape.

This position may suit a highly detail-oriented first- or second-jobber.

Profile

We are looking for the following in a candidate:

– Clarity of thought and clear intellectual abilities; interest in innovative and disruptive technologies and/or controversional policy areas;

– US legal degree, with an excellent knowledge of US law and its legal system (substantial professional experience in the US or with the US legal system not essential);

– Fluency in English, with strong written and oral skills; languages other than English/Spanish/French/Catalan an advantage (but not a requirement; the office operates in English).

– Demonstrable experience of presenting complex legal frameworks and public policy to a non-legal readership;

– Good communication and team-building skills: allowing you to develop links with regulators, companies and industry bodies particularly in the US;

– Excellent organisational and analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic – we need a someone with a self-starting mentality.

To apply or for an informal discussion, please send a CV and cover note to recruit@ecigintelligence.com .

U.S. INDUSTRY REPORTER – 0.5 FTE – HOME-BASED, UNITED STATES (posted 4th July 2016)

Your primary responsibility will be to contribute regular and timely news stories on the U.S. e-cigarette sector, especially vape stores and independent manufacturers, and on regulation at state and municipality level.
