Court orders reopening of vape shops in Pakistan province amid e‑cig ban dispute

The Lahore High Court has granted urgent interim relief to e-cigarette retailers across Punjab, in Pakistan, by ordering the immediate de-sealing of their shops, which had been shut down under the province’s recent e-cig ban. The court’s decision was announced on 25th June, following a petition filed by 74 vape dealers who challenged the crackdown.

The government of Punjab imposed a province-wide ban on e-cigarettes in early June, following chief minister Maryam Nawaz’s directive during the latest Cabinet meeting. The ban was aimed at restricting rising vape use among youth, citing serious health risks and potential addiction. In turn, authorities were instructed to launch an immediate crackdown on the sale and use of vapes.
