E-cigarettes are responsible for the most adverse lithium-ion battery incidents on aircraft, despite being only the sixth most popular device brought onboard planes, according to a new report.
E-cigs are only brought onboard planes by 10% of passengers. Despite this, these devices were responsible for the most incidences in 2024, with 28% of reported incidents attributed to them on passenger flights. In contrast, power banks were responsible for 19% of incidents but were brought onboard by 29% of passengers.
