UK smokers are facing a considerable hike in the price of all tobacco products following the Spring Budget outlined last week by chancellor (finance minister) Jeremy Hunt – but no tax on vaping products was included in the statement, leaving them much more affordable than other alternatives.
And while this was welcomed by health groups, there was some disappointment that Hunt did not seize the opportunity to tax disposables, both for environmental reasons and to discourage youngsters from using them.
