MEPs to soften demands on EU blanket flavour ban to just those targeting minors

The final report of the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA), which will be voted on 9th December, is expected to ask the Commission to assess a ban on selected flavours rather than a full prohibition as it acknowledges the role of vaping products in quitting the habit.

The political parties agreed earlier this week on a set of the so-called “compromise amendments” to be included in the final version of the report, prepared in response to Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan launched by the European Commission earlier this year.
