More than 24,000 responses were received to a call for evidence regarding the initiative published by the European Commission in May evaluating the legal framework that will shape the future revised Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) and Tobacco Advertising Directive.
The initiative was launched to assess the extent to which the current framework had fulfilled its goals and whether, given the rapid rise in emerging products, it could support the “tobacco free generation” by 2040 called for by the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA).
