Governor Cuomo announces plans to curb vaping in New York State

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has recently announced part of a comprehensive plan to reduce the use of tobacco products and electronic cigarettes.

As a statement of intent, Governor Cuomo then presented his $152.3 billion state budget for 2019, including a 10 cent per ml tax on e-liquid. The tax would be imposed on all products, regardless of whether they contain nicotine or not. If passed, the tax would take effect 180 days later.

Controversial US vaping firm Juul Labs has secured a deal to sell its vaping product in one of the UK’s largest supermarket chains.

The most publicised player in the US e-cigarette market started selling its vaping product in its UK stores in early November but now Juul will also be available in Sainsbury’s stores.
