11th April 2024: Albania: The Ministry of Justice and a member of parliament from the ruling Socialist Party have submitted a bill to amend the Tobacco Act. The main aim of the provisions is to comply with EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) standards. The bill extends tobacco advertising restrictions to nicotine-containing e-cigarettes and bans all forms of sponsorship and advertising, except for technical and industry publications. It also increases penalties for those who sell or give away products to under-18s. The bill still needs to be approved by the parliament.
8th January 2024: Albania: As of 1st January 2024, nicotine-containing e-liquid tax has increased to ALL16 (€0.15) per ml.
10th January 2023: Albania: As of 1st January 2023, nicotine-containing e-liquids tax increased to ALL14 (€0.12) per ml.
9th August 2022: Albania: The National Tobacco Agency has confirmed to ECigIntelligence that both nicotine-containing and nicotine-free e-cigarettes are regulated under the Law on the Protection of Health from Tobacco Products. Among other measures, the law sets product restrictions, labelling and packaging requirements and retail restrictions.
