Turkey: Member of Parliament Murat Emir, of the Republican People’s Party, has raised concerns about the sales of e-cigarettes on various websites despite the ban on their importation in Turkey. He highlighted the risks associated with e-cigarettes, and urged minister of commerce Ömer Bolat to monitor the market, press reports. Emir also called for stricter regulations and penalties to watch for e-cig sales and protect public health.

Turkey: The re-election of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to a third term as president, while the People’s Alliance led by his Justice and Development (AKP) party secured a majority in Parliament, suggests there is little prospect of any opening up of the e-cigarette sector. Erdoğan signed an order in 2020 banning the import of e-cigarettes.
