26th February 2024: US - Virginia: Senate Bill (SB) 550 has been passed by the House and now heads to the governor's desk. The bill would require the attorney general to establish a directory that lists all e-liquids and e-cigarettes sold in the state. As of 31st December 2024, e-cigarettes cannot be sold, distributed or imported for resale unless they are included in the directory.

17th August 2023: US - Virginia: The Leesburg Police Department conducted an under-age vaping operation at 29 retail stores in the town and charged four salespeople with selling tobacco vaping products to customers under the age of 21. Leesburg has a population of around 50,000 and is the county seat of Loudoun County.
24th February 2023: US - Virginia: House Bill 2296 has passed the Senate after amendments, agreed to by the House, and is now awaiting the governor's signature. The bill would direct the secretary of finance to assess a potential licensing scheme for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of liquid nicotine, as well as the best way to enforce and administer licensing, age and product verification, and advertising restrictions related to the sale of liquid nicotine. Before it was amended, this bill would have originally imposed a tax on liquid nicotine in closed system devices at the rate of $0.066 per ml and in open system devices at the rate of 20% of the wholesale price.
7th February 2023: US - Virginia: House Bill 2296 and Senate Bill 1350, which would have imposed tax at $0.066 per ml on nicotine e-liquids in closed systems, and 20% of the wholesale price in open systems, have been substituted, with all reference to tax removed.
13th January 2023: US - Virginia: House Bill 2296 and Senate Bill 1350 have been introduced. Both bills would impose a tax on liquid nicotine in closed systems at a rate of $0.066 per ml, and on liquid nicotine in open systems at a rate of 20% of the wholesale price.
3rd March 2022: US - Virginia: Senate Bill 223 has passed the House after minor amendments. This bill prohibits student athletes from earning compensation for the use of their image in connection with tobacco, tobacco products, alternative nicotine products, nicotine vapour products, and similar products and devices.
