This week’s proposed acquisition of Lorillard by Reynolds American seized the attention of the e-cigarette world primarily because of the unexpected sale of Blu, the market-leading e-cig in the U.S., to Imperial Tobacco.

    But, assuming it is approved by shareholders and regulators, the deal will recast the relative strengths – and even the actual composition – of the leaders in the American tobacco and e-cigarette markets in many other ways, too.
