A modern pod system using nicotine salts from a non–Big Tobacco company has been authorised by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) through the premarket tobacco product application (PMTA) pathway.
The landmark decision for Njoy’s Ace closed e-cigarette device and three accompanying tobacco-flavoured e-liquid pods represents two firsts: the first modern system using nicotine salts and the first time a company from outside the Big Tobacco sphere has been granted a PMTA.
