Malta: e-cigarette regulation, June 2024

Maltese authorities have not commented on future changes to the regulatory regime for vaping products in the country; however, we expect this to happen in the next few years as a result of the ongoing revision of the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD). Moreover, the Maltese Ministry of Finance has revealed its plan to consider excise tax for all vaping products, although there have been no formal proposals.

This regulatory report offers detailed analysis of the legal framework currently in place in Malta for e-cigarettes, covering all policy areas from taxation and notification to advertising, labelling and retail channel restrictions.
