Nicotine ‘more dangerous than drink’ according to survey respondents

More than half of US consumers wrongly believe that using nicotine every day is more dangerous than drinking every day, according to a new global survey from the Foundation for a Smoke-free World (FSFW).

US respondents to the multiple choice survey indicated that they believed nicotine causes lung cancer, throat cancer, and heart disease.

They also listed nicotine as a substance the daily use of which can harm your health (7.6%), above fat (6.6%) and alcohol (6.5%).

The survey, which looked into the vaping and smoking habits of 17,000 participants across 13 countries, found that faith in reduced-risk alternatives to smoking varies widely between countries.
