More than half of US consumers wrongly believe that using nicotine every day is more dangerous than drinking every day, according to a new global survey from the Foundation for a Smoke-free World (FSFW).
US respondents to the multiple choice survey indicated that they believed nicotine causes lung cancer, throat cancer, and heart disease.
They also listed nicotine as a substance the daily use of which can harm your health (7.6%), above fat (6.6%) and alcohol (6.5%).
The survey, which looked into the vaping and smoking habits of 17,000 participants across 13 countries, found that faith in reduced-risk alternatives to smoking varies widely between countries.
