E-cigarette regulation in Latvia

Since Latvia transposed the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) in 2016, it has submitted new regulations and appears to be currently working to implement further changes.

As confirmed by the Latvian Health Department – and as seen in the draft laws explained below – the government is trying to create a regulatory framework similar to that of its neighbours Estonia and Lithuania. According to the authorities, they are in regular contact with neighbouring countries to exchange information and ensure a more homogeneous interpretation of the TPD. This report examines the current regulations in place, as well as possible future amendments.
