Between October 2020 and September 2021 there were 804m visits to vaping websites worldwide, and it appears this trend is growing. In the time period under analysis, it seems that five countries generated over half of the global traffic. The US has the largest number of vapers, and it generated the most interest online in searching for vaping products, followed by four European countries. ECigIntelligence analysed the total traffic of 4,507 online vape retailers for a year, from October 2020 to September 2021. The total online visits to websites from 83 countries have been analysed with regards tothe origin and destination of the online traffic. To identify specialist online vape retailers we ran Google searches in 73 countries for specific search terms, such as “buy e-cigarettes” or “vape shop + country” in the local language in each country as well as in English for smaller vape markets. Results from a minimum ten and maximum 40 Google pages were extracted and manually checked to identify websites that are primarily focused on the retail of vaping products. Traffic data was acquired from SimilarWeb which forms the basis of this analysis, complemented by information from our latest ECigIntelligence market database.
