Regulatory report: New Zealand, April 2021

The regulatory framework for vapour products in New Zealand is undergoing a major change. From being unregulated, the government has decided to create a comprehensive framework for these products and thus legalise them. All nicotine and non-nicotine containing vape products, including devices, were regulated in New Zealand for the first time by the 2020 Smoke-Free Act, although some provisions will not apply until February 2022.

This report provides a comprehensive overview of the current regulatory regime in New Zealand for vaping products, as well as information about near-future regulations.
