Romania: e-cigarette regulation, June 2022

Romania transposed the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) in 2016. In 2018, the regulation for the notification procedure for tobacco and vaping products was adopted. While some Romanian opposition parties have submitted bills to further regulate the e-cigarette market, none have been adopted and it is fairly likely the country will wait for the revision of the EU Tobacco Products Directive before introducing further regulation.

This report provides a detailed overview of the regulatory framework in place for e-cigs and related products, covering all policy areas from taxation and notification to retail channel restrictions and packaging rules.
