San Francisco flavour debate looks to June referendum

Even as the US federal government gears up to take on flavours, the debate over San Francisco’s plan for a city-wide flavour ban is growing increasingly intense.

Sponsored by board supervisor member Malia Cohen – who has repeated the frequently-made argument that flavours disproportionately target at-risk populations like low-income African Americans and youth in order to hook them on tobacco – the ordinance targets not only conventional tobacco flavours like menthol but also e-liquid flavours generally.
