Science overshadowed by pouch use in Kennedy US health secretary hearings

A fractious second Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary nomination hearing for Robert F Kennedy Jr. rapidly devolved into arguments over “science” that were overshadowed – at least in the nicotine alternatives sectors – by news that Kennedy was seen using a nicotine pouch during his first hearing.

The second nomination hearing – this time before the US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions – saw some repeat performances from the first nomination hearing; for example, senator Bernie Sanders (Independent, caucusing with Democrats), but mainly featured a new cast of interrogators.
