Tax sorted – now Russia’s legal vaping industry faces fresh existential threat

While a new tax regime, with duty no longer applying to devices, may be welcome, Russia’s vaping industry now faces a renewed threat of a total e-cigarette ban.

Russia’s parliament has approved a change in excise tax on e-liquids and heated tobacco, effectively ending recent uncertainties that have plagued the market. However, the industry now faces more troubling concerns as calls resume for a total ban on e-cigarettes, backed by a large public majority in an online poll.
