8th January 2018 - Market reports , Topic market reports |

ECigIntelligence looked at the price policy and product range for e-liquids and hardware on the UK’s top five visited websites selling e-cigarettes. Ontario report: Open systems dominate but new legislation looms

19th December 2017 - Country market reports , Market reports |

In our latest look at Canada, we find that open system products dominate, taking up approximately 85% of the Ontario market, with a high prevalence of basic models. Most sales come through the offline channel, and we believe there are around 400 vape stores in Ontario, predominantly independents. Online analysis found 12 out 20 top national websites operate from Ontario. Furthermore, Ontario is the home province for multiple Canadian e-liquid brands. A new bill – The Smoke-Free Ontario Act –  will provide a very restrictive legal framework. We believe this bill will have a negative impact on the growth and development of e-cig market.

Swiss market dominated by open advanced systems

5th December 2017 - Market reports |

The Swiss market is dominated by open advanced systems mostly purchased offline. Due to the country’s nicotine ban Switzerland seems an ideal market for shake and vape e-liquids. Foreign shake and vape e-liquids, mostly imported from the U.S., are at the forefront, but several domestic e-liquid brands also produce large format nicotine-free e-liquids.

A new website aiming to break into the British e-cigarette market with express deliveries has reached the halfway point in its crowd-funding round with under a month to go. Clouder – a UK-based third-party online aggregator for vape shops and e-cig companies – is attempting to raise £100,000 on Seedrs, a popular equity crowd-funding website.

Popularity of shake and vape on the rise in Germany

29th November 2017 - Market reports , Topic market reports |

As shake and vape grows in popularity, ECigIntelligence takes a look at the German market in detail and finds that experienced vapers in Germany mostly use their own-mixed e-liquids, which can help in avoiding TPD restrictions for e-liquid-containing nicotine. This trend seems to have grown in Germany since May 2017, and almost half of the e-liquid brands sold in Germany are ready to mix.

Modular devices dominate in Russia, but tax rise yet to reach consumer

24th November 2017 - Market reports , Topic market reports |

We consider the Russian market to be focused on modular devices, with over three quarters of all hardware products stocked on the top five websites being mods or replacement parts. The most common bottle size for e-liquids was 30ml, while the top five online retailers mainly stocked e-liquids with prices below the average. Atmose was found to be the most visible e-liquid brand, while the most stocked hardware brands were Joyeshop, Eleaf, Wismec and Smok.

Uncertainty surrounds the Italian e-cigarette market, following a number of recent regulatory decisions and initiatives. These include a court decision on the long-running issue of whether to tax nicotine-free e-liquids; proposals to ban online sales and limit offline sales; a range of potential new tax regimes; and new powers to shut down non-compliant online sellers.
