The Swedish Chemicals Agency has changed its interpretation regarding e-liquids with nicotine concentration over 17 mg/ml.

As ECigIntelligence reported a few months ago, authorities required both producers and consumers to obtain a permit for the sale and use of e-liquid containing over 17 mg of nicotine per ml, which was a de facto ban.

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has recently announced part of a comprehensive plan to reduce the use of tobacco products and electronic cigarettes.

As a statement of intent, Governor Cuomo then presented his $152.3 billion state budget for 2019, including a 10 cent per ml tax on e-liquid. The tax would be imposed on all products, regardless of whether they contain nicotine or not. If passed, the tax would take effect 180 days later.

Austria has recently tightened up its regulatory stance with the Non Smoking Act (Nichtraucherschutzgesetz) restricting the purchasing age for e-cigs and similar tobacco products to 18 years old, from 1st January 2019. Previously, the minimum age for buying tobacco-related products was 16 years old.
The new age limit was voted into law in the federal parliament in April 2018, and now needs to be implemented by each state or land.

New changes to the Information Technology Act aim to block any information on the internet promoting e-cigarettes to residents of India.
This week, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) proposed an amendment to the Draft of the Information Technology Intermediary Guidelines Rules, which obliges any intermediary or internet-based service provider to inform users not to “host, display, upload, modify, publish, transmit, update or share any information that (…) threatens public health or safety; promotion of cigarettes or any other tobacco products or consumption of intoxicant including alcohol and Electronic Nicotine Delivery System (ENDS).”
