A group of vapour trade associations and industry members have submitted comments to the US Trade Representative (USTR) arguing against the Trump administration’s tariff regime – which is estimated could put 15% on e-cigarette prices.
The self-styled “vapor coalition” has requested the removal of tariffs which, they argue, will punish hundreds of businesses across the US and “thousands of organizations involved in the commerce of vapor products”.
The coalition is concerned about the potential “devastating economic harm” the tariffs could cause the US vapour industry, which relies heavily on hardware-related imports from China. And it expresses fears about the possible fallout for US public health.
