Lithuania: The Ministry of Environment is asking bars, restaurants and clubs to place bins on their premises for the collection of disposable vapour products. These businesses can obtain the bins for free by contacting the Electronics Manufacturers and Importers Association, UAB Ecodumas or Royal Smoke, which also take care of the correct disposal of these items.

Lithuania: The ban on non-tobacco-flavoured e-liquids, introduced by Law XIV-909, will enter into force tomorrow, 1st July. The Drug, Tobacco and Alcohol Control Department (NTAKD) informed ECigIntelligence that manufacturers and importers have to remove non-tobacco-flavoured e-liquids through the EU Common Entry Gate (EU-CEG).

Lithuania: The Drug, Tobacco and Alcohol Control Department (NTAKD) informed ECigIntelligence that manufacturers and importers will have to remove non-tobacco e-liquids from the EU Common Entry Gate (EU-CEG) portal starting 1st July 2022.

Lithuania: The Ministry of Health told ECigIntelligence that the ban on non-tobacco flavours will cover both nicotine-containing and nicotine-free e-liquids. The ban will enter into force on 1st July 2022.

Lithuania: The National Agenda on Drug, Tobacco and Alcohol Control, Prevention of Drug Use and Drug-Related Harm Until 2035 – drafted by the Ministry of Health and the Drug, Tobacco and Alcohol Control Department (NTAKD) – was presented to the parliament for approval. The plan aims to reduce tobacco and tobacco-related product supply by implementing coherent and consistent policies based on scientific studies, improving excise duty policies, raising awareness of the negative consequence of tax leakage due to smuggling on the public budget, and regulating emerging products promptly and strengthening advertising restrictions. The NTAKD confirmed that the Agenda will be voted by the parliament during the spring session, which ends on 30th June.

Lithuania: The Seimas (Lithuanian parliament) has rejected a bill that aimed to postpone the entry into force of a flavour ban to 1st July 2023. Therefore, starting 1st July 2022, non-tobacco-flavoured vaping products will be prohibited on the market.

Lithuania: In accordance with the amendments introduced by the Law XIV-295 of 13 May 2021 to the Law on Tobacco Control of Tobacco, Tobacco Products and Related Products, the definition of an e-cigarette has changed as of 1st May 2022 and nicotine-free e-cigarettes are equated to those with nicotine. This means that nicotine-free e-cigarettes are now subject to the same requirements and restrictions as e-cigarettes with nicotine.

Lithuania: A group of 18 members of parliament from various parties have presented a bill to amend the law banning non-tobacco flavours in e-cigarettes by delaying its entry into force by a year, from 1st July 2022 to 1st July 2023.

The plan aims to reduce the supply of tobacco and related products through policies based on scientific studies, improving excise duties, raising awareness of the effects of smuggling on the public budget, regulating emerging products promptly, and strengthening advertising restrictions.
