US and European Union officials have held high-level talks in Brussels on possible co-operation over the regulation of nicotine-containing products.
A US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) spokesperson confirmed to ECigIntelligence that there were “discussions on a wide range of tobacco-related topics” but no specific details have been given on whether e-cigarettes were specifically part of the conversation.
“Despite differences in regulatory approaches and challenges, a great interest in working together and to exchange on experience, best practice, relevant data and research results was expressed and specific topics for future exchange identified,” the European Commission said.
