FDA’s PMTA denials get a warm political welcome – but not the delay over Juul

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s denial of premarket tobacco product applications (PMTAs) has been mostly welcomed by politicians and public health organisations – some of whom have urged the agency to deny Juul Labs’ application too.

US senator Dick Durbin of Illinois said he was glad to hear that the federal agency had rejected most of the applications but said it was “unacceptable” that the evaluation of Juul products had been postponed.
