US - Federal: Indiana attorney general, Todd Rokita, has sent a
letter to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expressing his concerns "about the proliferation of illegal disposable e-cigarettes inundating our communities and schools". He names Puff, Elf Bar and Breeze Smoke as the most popular brands among the youth, highlighting how easy it is to obtain them. "Chinese disposable e-cigarette manufacturers, such as Elf Bar" specifically come under fire, as he says they "directly market their products to our youth on TikTok". Rokita also blames China for "maybe" unlawfully selling products laced with fentanyl, linking to a Washington Times report, and emphasises that "the Chinese Communist Party remains the most consequential threat to national security and the well-being of our country". He thus asks the FDA to increase on-the-ground enforcement at bricks-and-mortar retailers.
