14th January 2025: US - Indiana: House Bill (HB) 1410 has been introduced. HB 1410 would ban the sale of flavoured tobacco products – which includes electronic cigarettes, chewing tobacco and other nicotine-based products with characterising flavours – in Indiana from 1st July 2025.
13th January 2025: US - Indiana: Senate Bill (SB) 322 has been introduced, which would prohibit the sale of tobacco products, including e-liquids and e-cigarettes, to people born after 30th June 2004.
9th January 2025: US - Indiana: House Bill 1218 has been introduced. It would prohibit individuals from distributing, selling, offering to sell, making a delivery sale of, or offering for barter or exchange an e-liquid or vapour product in Indiana after 30th June 2025.
12th January 2024: US - Indiana: Senate Bill (SB) 227 has been introduced. The bill would require manufacturers of alternative nicotine products and vapour products to annually certify their products with the Department of State Revenue. It would require the department to establish and maintain a directory on the department's website of all manufacturers of alternative nicotine products and vapour products.
30th August 2023: US - Federal: Indiana attorney general, Todd Rokita, has sent a letter to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expressing his concerns "about the proliferation of illegal disposable e-cigarettes inundating our communities and schools". He names Puff, Elf Bar and Breeze Smoke as the most popular brands among the youth, highlighting how easy it is to obtain them. "Chinese disposable e-cigarette manufacturers, such as Elf Bar" specifically come under fire, as he says they "directly market their products to our youth on TikTok". Rokita also blames China for "maybe" unlawfully selling products laced with fentanyl, linking to a Washington Times report, and emphasises that "the Chinese Communist Party remains the most consequential threat to national security and the well-being of our country". He thus asks the FDA to increase on-the-ground enforcement at bricks-and-mortar retailers.
16th January 2023: US - Indiana: House Bill 1133 has been introduced. This bill would prohibit the sale of flavoured tobacco products and their components, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and smokeless tobacco; and tobacco products that have a characterising flavour.
1st July 2022: US - Indiana: As of today, 1st July 2022, a tax on e-cigarettes will become effective, as enacted by House Bill (HB) 1001, establishing a tax on the retail sale of closed-system cartridges and vapour products of 15% of the gross retail income received by the retail dealer for its sale. While originally closed-system cartridges were to be taxed at 25%, Senate Bill (SB) 382 was enacted in order to establish the same rate as for vapour products.
