Malta: The Ministry for Health has issued an
alert through the European Safety Gate (the EU rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products) on a disposable e-cigarette product (AUPO 2000 Puffs) for not complying with the requirements of the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD). According to the ministry, the product contains an excessive amount of nicotine – amounting to 16 mg/ml with a volume of 5 ml – and its packaging is misleading, as it does not contain information about nicotine concentration, dosage, and nicotine content. In response, the ministry banned marketing and sales of the product and recalled it from the market.
