25th October 2024: UK - Wales: The Welsh government has announced it will follow the proposed legislation introduced by England yesterday (24th October) to ban single-use disposable vapes and will enforce it on the same date, namely 1st June 2025, press reports.
20th December 2023: UK - Wales: The Welsh government has announced that it has provided funding to Trading Standards Wales to crack down on illegal tobacco and vapour products. "This will help safeguard consumers from these products, including children and young people who are increasingly using vapes, and protecting legitimate businesses in Wales," it said.
17th October 2023: UK: Another consultation on vaping and creating a smoke-free generation has been launched by the government. The consultation on vaping will review restricting flavours and regulating packaging and display at point-of-sale. It will also consider restricting the supply and sale of disposables, whether regulations should extend to nicotine-free e-cigarettes and deal with the affordability of vapour products. Following the consultation period of eight weeks (until 6th December), the UK government, Scottish government and Welsh government intend to bring forward legislation as soon as possible.
27th July 2022: UK - Wales: The Welsh government yesterday published its tobacco control strategy, aimed at reducing the adult (16+) smoking rate to 5% or less over the next eight years. One of the objectives is to work on discouraging the uptake of e-cigarettes and other nicotine products among teenagers and young people by 2030.
