India’s trade ministry says there’s ‘no legal basis’ to ban e-cig imports – yet

The Indian trade ministry has said it can’t ban imports of e-cigarettes, according to a Reuters investigation.

An internal Ministry of Commerce and Industry document, seen by the news agency, says there is no legal basis for prohibiting e-cig imports.

The Economic Times reports that the Ministry of Commerce has asked the health ministry to prepare legislation banning the manufacture and sale of e-cigarettes in India in order that it can then impose an import ban.
