Tuesday’s advisory on e-cigarettes from US Surgeon General Jerome Adams sparked a response from relevant actors for the industry that fell along the usual lines; industry members indicated displeasure with the advisory, while some tobacco control groups and regulators parroted its talking points or generally indicated support.
For instance, the company singled out the most by US regulators for youth appeal, Juul Labs, put out a response on its site stressing that its intent was “never to have youth use Juul products.”
Juul’s Senior Director of Communications Victoria Davis commented that the company “shares a common goal with the Surgeon General and other federal health regulators” in “preventing youth from initiating on nicotine.”
