The Republic of Ireland regulated nicotine-containing e-cigarettes by transposing the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) in 2016. Nicotine-free liquids are unaffected by the May 2016 regulations, being regulated as consumer products. The new government’s five-year plan includes the introduction of new rules addressing taxation, sales and advertising restrictions. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the current regulatory regime for e-cigs in Ireland, as well as analysis and information of potential near-future restrictions.
