Switzerland takes another step on long march towards stricter advertising ban

The Swiss Federal Council has opened the consultation process with Switzerland’s cantons’ on a bill to amend the national Tobacco Products Act following a referendum on tightening restrictions on tobacco and vaping products.

At ballots held in January and February a majority of voters supported a proposal from the pressure group Children Without Tobacco. Aimed at stopping tobacco and e-cigarette advertising from reaching children, it would ban all such ads from newspapers, at open-air events and online.
