Wales remains vague on vaping as it plans a route to a smoke-free future

The Welsh government has launched a public consultation over its long-term tobacco control strategy, but experts have warned that vaping products are still far from playing a pivotal role in the devolved UK nation’s harm reduction policy.

Although it does not go into that much detail on the role of e-cigarettes – stating only that their use by young people will be discouraged the Tobacco Control Delivery Plan 2022-2024 makes it one of its main priorities to “explore the role of e-cigarettes and other nicotine products for smoking cessation”.
