Romania has increased taxes on vaping products – along with conventional cigarettes and heated tobacco – from yesterday, 1st August, as the government bids to secure additional tax revenue.
The Ministry of Finance is currently projecting additional revenues of RON460.3m (€93.4m) this year, and RON1.1bn (€223.2m) in 2023 from the introduction of the tax on cigarettes, nicotine-containing e-liquids and heat-not-burn (HnB) products.
