The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has indicated it could restrict e-cigarette sales in convenience stores, and possibly limit the sale of flavoured e-cigs to vape shops only.
After meetings with major manufacturers Juul Labs, Reynolds American and Altria, FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb told journalists he was contemplating a ban on flavoured e-cig sales in c-stores, perhaps limiting their sale to adults-only vape shops.
He said: “We’re looking at what can be sold in brick-and-mortar stores and whether or not flavoured products can be sold in regular stores like a 7-Eleven and a truck stop and a gas station, or whether or not flavoured products on the market should be confined to adult vaping shops, which generally tend to do a better job of checking ID.”
