Regulatory report: Malaysia, November 2020

The Malaysian Ministry of Health has announced that it is working on developing a Tobacco Control Act that should regulate e-cigarettes, but so far no progress has been made. In February 2020, deputy health minister Lee Boon Chye told ECigIntelligence the government was still studying the effects of vaping and that it would not be possible for e-cig regulation to come before the first parliament sitting in March, as expected. In November 2020, the ministries of health and trade told ECigIntelligence that they are in the early stages of together drafting regulation for nicotine-free e-cigarettes, which they hope to put forward in 2021. This report covers all areas of regulation for e-cigs in Malaysia as well as including a list of relevant laws and governing bodies.
