E-cigarettes should be used in France to help smokers quit the habit, says an official consultative assembly that reports directly to the prime minister, National Assembly and Senate.
The recommendation comes in a report presented by the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (Conseil économique, social et environnemental, CESE) , entitled “Tobacco and alcohol addictions”.
The 77-page document, in which the CESE says it regrets “the very restrictive framework” for e-cigarettes in France, represents perhaps the strongest call to date for French policymakers to acknowledge vaping as a smoking-cessation device.
