Industry fears USPS will annex CTP and create backlog of PMTAs at post offices

Alarm was building at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today after senior figures at the much larger United States Postal Service (USPS) hinted they intended to annex the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), a quasi-autonomous region within the FDA.

Erste Narr, the newly appointed postmaster general, has long made no secret of his opinion that control of the CTP is necessary to protect the nation’s postal security, claiming that flavoured vapes – along with snow, rain, heat and gloom of night – increasingly threaten to stay the USPS’s couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
