Italy: e-cigarette regulation, April 2025

The September 2022 general election resulted in a victory for the far-right coalition led by Brothers of Italy (Fratelli d’Italia), which gathered the highest number of votes. This coalition also includes The League (La Lega) and Forward Italy (Forza Italia). The League has historically, under the leadership of Matteo Salvini, aligned itself with the vaping sector. However, lacking a majority in the ruling coalition, it holds limited influence over government policies.

Since assuming power, the government has implemented stricter regulations on vapour products.

This report provides a detailed analysis of the regulatory framework for e-cigarettes in Italy, extensively covering all policy areas from taxation, market access and advertising to packaging, product restrictions and sanctions.
