Regulatory report: Bulgaria, February 2021

Bulgaria takes a relatively liberal approach to vaping. In 2016, the country regulated nicotine-containing e-cigarettes by transposing the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD); no major updates have been adopted since. In conversations with the authorities, ECigIntelligence has learned that there is no intention to create a specific regulation for non-nicotine cigarettes.

This report offers a comprehensive overview of the current regulatory framework that is in place in Bulgaria for vaping products, covering all areas of law from taxation, enforcement and notification, to advertising and labelling restrictions.
