Vaping products are currently completely banned in Qatar and ECigIntelligence does not expect any changes in the regulations any time soon. Nevertheless, should Qatar decide to regulate and legalise e-cigarettes we believe that there are two possible scenarios. Qatar could adopt similar regulations to the neighbouring countries of the Arabic peninsula; or alternatively, wait until the approval of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Standardisation Organisation (GSO) standard on vaping products – which would introduce common restrictions for all GCC countries – and adopt it.
This report will explore the possible regulatory framework should Qatar decide to follow its fellow GCC countries and legalise e-cigarettes.
