Reynolds to appeal after being told to pay PMI $11m in latest round of patents battle

RJ Reynolds says it will appeal after a US federal jury awarded Philip Morris International (PMI) nearly $11m having concluded that Reynolds Vapor’s Vuse e-cigarettes infringed two PMI patents.

Reynolds was ordered to pay $8m compensation for Vuse Solo’s infringement of a patent issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office for a compact heater. It must also pay $2.76m for the Vuse Solo G2’s infringement of a registered PMI patent for a leakage preventer.
