Romania raises tax on nicotine e-liquid in hope of boosting national coffers

Romania has increased taxes on vaping products along with conventional cigarettes and heated tobacco from yesterday, 1st August, as the government bids to secure additional tax revenue.

The Ministry of Finance is currently projecting additional revenues of RON460.3m (€93.4m) this year, and RON1.1bn (€223.2m) in 2023 from the introduction of the tax on cigarettes, nicotine-containing e-liquids and heat-not-burn (HnB) products.
