The US House of Representatives has passed president Joe Biden’s $1.75tn social spending bill, including a new federal tax on nicotine vaping products.
The House backed Biden’s Build Back Better Bill by 220 votes to 213 on Friday, with all Republican representatives voting against, along with Democrat Jared Golden of Maine. The bill will now go to the Senate, where majority leader Chuck Schumer says he aims to have it passed before Christmas. Should the Senate make any amendments to the bill, it will have to go back to the House again.
