New York gets tough – no new e-cig retailers to be allowed in the city

Only retailers who were already selling e-cigarettes on 28th August 2017 will be allowed to do so under new licensing rules in New York City, explained in detail in an ECigIntelligence report.

There will be a cap on the number of retailers permitted in each of the city’s districts, with the eventual aim of halving the number of e-cig sellers.

Under a tightening up of the city’s Smoke-Free Air Act announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio, who maintains a very clear anti-vaping stance, licences to sell vaping products will have to be renewed every two years.

They will be revoked if the retailer is caught selling tobacco or e-cigarette products to anyone under the age of 21 more than once within a period of three years.
