The Mexican government has been accused of deliberately delaying the regulation of e-cigarettes after four bills designed to remove them from the current legal grey area were presented to a legislative committee.
Two of the four are considered relatively favourable to the vaping industry. The other two largely equate e-cigarettes with conventional tobacco products.
The complexities of the Mexican legislative system mean the final outcome would be expected to be a compromise encompassing aspects of all four. But supporters of one more vape-friendly bill claim two have been proposed as a stalling tactic.
