The e-cigarette crackdown in India has continued with new bans proposed in the southern state of Tamil Nadu and the northern state of Rajasthan. Tamil Nadu is home to Chennai, one of the country’s most significant city economies, and the state is India’s sixth most-populous with over 72million people. Rajasthan is India’s largest state by area, and contains most of the Thar Desert, with Jaipur as its largest city; the state is home to over 68million people.
Both state governments are mulling a blanket ban with severe penalties on electronic cigarettes – while suffering from a lack of clear regulations emerging from the federal administration.
